IN 2018, WE ARE GOING TO START TALKING ABOUT THE WORK.
Of course, we already yak on a lot between ourselves, but we’ve decided it’s time to take the informal chats we have around the breakfast table (about acting, directing, producing and teaching) and share them a little more widely.
For those who don’t know us, we are Nicholas Coghlan and Ming-Zhu Hii — husband and wife — both performers, writers, directors and producers in various capacities: of film, theatre and other media. We both work a lot, and very diversely, across the arts and entertainment industries.
Nick is also a teacher, and MZ has an extensive small business background, and a very historical practice of writing about theatre (and related forms) and questions of representation in the arts. We’re both obsessed with the poetry and practice of performance; and the interrogation, the deep inherent value, and imperative for integrity in story-based practices.
Now, because we’re mad idiots who work crazy hours, getting around to opening up the doors to the “studio” in a format that is compelling and reasonably well-produced is going to take some time. For now, the promise is that it will happen some time this year.
To find out the moment we go live, sign up to very sparing and irregular correspondence from Ming-Zhu, here. Until we launch, for more information on our work, please visit Ming-Zhu Hii's website, or that of our cinematic sister practice, Find & Replace Films. We’ve also made a lot of work together: you can view a temporary archive of selected past work here. To get in touch with us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
